Solvej Riana Strandvik passed away peacefully holding her father's hand at 21:00 on 24 June 2011. She felt no pain and has gone to a much better place!
Solvej was an amazing daughter, sister and friend. She was and always will be an inspiration to us. We would go to visit her to encourage her and would find ourselves instead, strangely, being encouraged and lifted up by her. This is how she was right up until the end. Throughout her sickness I can't remember her complaining or getting angry or resentful once! This is how she was in life - a beautiful, caring and selfless person.
Solvej we love you and miss you. We are completely devastated and your leaving us has left a hole in our hearts. Your life was cut short, but we know you are where you want to be - with your Father who has been faithful to you and carried you through the tough times and has now carried you home!
Thanks to everyone for your love and support. We will post details of the memorial service when they have been confirmed.
My thoughts and prayers to the Standvik family and to all Solvej's friends.

My condolences to the Strandvik family. My name is Mary Carrillo and I am a paddler from the Save Our Sisters Dragon Boat Team from Miami Florida, USA. We had the privilege to share two days with Solvej and her team through friendly competition in Canada. We share your pain and we know she is free now. May She rest in peace. Lots of Paddle love.

ReplyDeleteIt was with sadness I found that Solvej has passed away. I met Solvej in Seattle in 1998 - 1999, and since we were both foreigners living in a new country, we spent some time together at that time. Solvej was always softspoken, fun, caring and a gentle spirit. I will never forget the "Murder Mystery Party" she hosted while in Seattle. Solvej also visited me here in Oslo a few years later, and it was wonderful to see her again. Yesterday she popped up in my mind, and I did a Google search, and found this site. It once more reminds me of the advice to count our days. Solvej was a precious human being, and it is obvious that she is missed by many. All the best to her family and friends from Per in Oslo, Norway.
